Potter Theme Park rumors good news for the fate of Harry [Posted Monday, 04/16/07 8:10 am] This weekend, many news outlets have reported that unconfirmed rumors are looking good for a new theme-park in Orlando, Florida, themed entirely around the Harry Potter books. Besides giving a place to Harry Potter fans to have fun, I think this is really good news to fans for another really important reason.
Just last week I blogged here that I was getting a litte morose about the possible dark fate of Harry in just 100 days. But now, I'm starting to believe that Harry might not die in the Book 7 after all.
Several years ago, I wrote that it was understandable that a Harry Potter theme park or even a Harry Potter ride at an existing park had not yet been done, because while we all love the books, nobody knows how they end yet. After all, think about what would have happened if someone had created a cute and cuddly "Scabbers" ride before Prisoner of Azkaban came out. After we learned the truth about Scabbers, that ride would have been ruined.
But now, so close to the publication of the final book, we have rumors of a Harry Potter Theme Park. Do you think anyone would go to such a park if Harry Potter dies at the end of Book 7? I don't! So, if these rumors of the theme park are true, I can only take this to mean that Harry does not die at the end of the last book!
I don't have any inside knowledge on this, so don't get your hopes up. But, I think it's logical to assume that the park creators would not spend billions of dollars on something that could have an unhappy ending, and that they know something we don't.
So, I'm personally feeling pretty good about the upcoming ending of the story now!
