| Ten years later, Harry Potter vanishes from Best Sellers list |
After a 10-year run, and less than a year after the seventh and final book in J. K. Rowling's series was published, the Harry Potter books have fallen, as of the May 11 issue of the Book Review, off The Times's best-seller list. | Harry Potter becomes required reading in British schools |
Harry Potter has been put on the A-level English syllabus, to be studied alongside Shakespeare and Dickens, sparking claims exams are being Dumbledored down. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the world's 12th best-selling book of all time, is on the English language and literature syllabus of the AQA board, which sets half the UK's exams. | Harry Potter trial has a potentially happy ending |
J.K. Rowling held out an olive branch in the latest copyright trial and seemed clearly wounded after the previous day's testimony by Steven Vander Ark. | Fans wondering why you have to be 13 to read Beedle |
Amazon is giving Harry Potter fans the chance to read The Tales of Beedle the Bard, but only if they're over 12. The book, hand-written by J.K. Rowling, is one of only seven in the world, and was bought by Amazon for £1,950,000! Amazon says it had to set an age limit on the writing contest because of internet rules in other countries. A long-ago weeded library book still bearing its barcode recently fetched a cool $8,000 at auction in England. Christie's never checked the barcode to confirm that it hadn't been stolen, but a Bloomberg News reporter did, and confirmed that the book had indeed been "disposed of" back in 1999.
