Tolkien now available as digital e-books
Digital e-versions of the J.R.R. Tolkien's multimillion-selling "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy were released Monday, with "The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun" planned for next month, publisher HarperCollins announced. Lord of the Rings quests from EA to Warner Brothers
Electronic Arts is suffering a loss of one of their top licensed franchises, as their deal with New Line Cinema for Lord of the Rings-based games ended at the end of 2008, and the franchise franchise has come back to New Line's parent company, Warner Brothers, valuable with the promise of two Hobbit films coming in 2011 and 2012. Original Hobbits returning for Rings prequels?
In what we can only describe a bizarre turn of events, Dominic "Merry" Monaghan has said that the team developing The Hobbit want the original band to return for the prequels. New Tolkien books to be published in May
HarperCollins is to publish a new book by the late Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien. The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun, edited and introduced by Tolkien's son Christopher, will be published in hardback in May 2009. The previously unpublished work was written during the 1920s and '30s, before The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. [more...]

Followup: The Hobbit not pushed back to 2012
On Monday here on Wizard News we linked you to a story widely repeated in the press that said The Hobbit may be postponed until 2012. Fan website TheOneRing.net says they have received confirmation from the source of all sources, the director of the film, Guillermo del Toro, himself, stating that this rumor is untrue. [more...]

The Hobbit pushed back to 2012
According to reports, Lord of the Rings prequel The Hobbit may be postponed until 2012. The movie, to be released in two parts, was due to shoot in New Zealand this winter but has reportedly had its start date shifted to 2010.
