Half-Blood Prince Soundtrack to include 5.1 audio and extras
New Line Records will release the original motion picture soundtrack for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on digital and CD Tuesday, July 14. In a first for a Harry Potter film soundtrack, it will be an enhanced CD giving fans a free digital download of the entire soundtrack in 5.1 Surround Sound audio, along with bonus exclusive content. Half-Blood Prince IMAX release pushed back to July 29
According to TV Watch Online, IMAX has announced that the IMAX release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be July 29, two weeks after its release in standard theaters. Official Harry Potter uniforms now available to fans
Lochaven International, of Stewarton, Ayrshire, who make the Hogwarts jumpers, tank tops and cardigans for the boy wizard films, are putting the outfits on sale for the first time. The uniforms, as worn by Harry actor Daniel Radcliffe and the rest of the cast, come in four sets of colours for the four Hogwarts houses. [more...]

The Sport of Warlocks now available on the iPhone!
Harry Potter fans can now play Quidditch on the iPhone! Mendoza Technologies in McAllen, Texas, has announced their new Quidditch game, the first for iPhone and iTouch devices. Daniel Radcliffe receives Drama Desk Best Actor nomination
The nominations for the 2009 Drama Desk Awards were announced this morning at the New York Friars Club by Faith Prince and Jim Dale. New Lord of the Rings film premieres online in May
A new short film, "The Hunt for Gollum," will make its debut on video sharing site Dailymotion on May 3rd (a week from Sunday). This high-production value, 45-minute film was a labor of love, produced by entirely by fans of the Tolkien trilogy on a volunteer basis over the past 2 years. [more...]

EW's Annual Summer Movie Preview includes Harry Potter info
The wait is over. Warner Bros.' adaptation of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince finally hits theaters July 15. "You know the headline on this one, of course," says Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid). Hagrid's hut spotted at Harry Potter World in Orlando
A number of sharp-eyed fans have spotted the rooftop of a structure rising in Universal Orlando's Wizarding World of Harry Potter that looks an awful lot like Hagrid's Hut. Looks like those fans nailed it. Building permits pulled by Universal for the secretive Potter project show that the resort is indeed constructing Hagrid's Hut. [more...]

Jim Dale was only given 100 pages at a time
Harry Potter narrator Jim Dale says he was given only 100 pages of manuscript at a time to read and then record, so he never knew what was coming; and in order to keep track of the 146 voices he'd created, he often pre-recorded a bit of the characters' voices and then held a tape recorder up to his ear in the studio to remind himself. Followup: The Hobbit not pushed back to 2012
On Monday here on Wizard News we linked you to a story widely repeated in the press that said The Hobbit may be postponed until 2012. Fan website TheOneRing.net says they have received confirmation from the source of all sources, the director of the film, Guillermo del Toro, himself, stating that this rumor is untrue. [more...]
