Followup: The Hobbit not pushed back to 2012 [Posted by Dave Haber on Tuesday, 12/23/08 5:54 pm] [Full Blog] [Related Posts] [Tweet This]On Monday here on Wizard News we linked you to a story widely repeated in the press that said:
According to reports, the Lord of the Rings prequel The Hobbit may be postponed until 2012. The movie, to be released in two parts, was due to shoot in New Zealand this winter but has reportedly had its start date shifted to 2010, resulting in the release being pushed back to 2012
However, fan website TheOneRing.net refutes these reports.
They say they have received confirmation from the source of all sources, the director of the film, Guillermo del Toro, himself, stating that this rumor is untrue. He says filming on The Hobbit has not been pushed back, and the blockbuster is still on track to begin filming in New Zealand in the upcoming months.
