| Sir Ian McKellen urges for more roles for mature actresses |
Lord of the Rings star Sir Ian McKellen has called for playwrights to create more stage and screen roles for older actresses, calling on broadcasters to change their attitudes towards actresses aged over 45. | Tolkien now available as digital e-books |
Digital e-versions of the J.R.R. Tolkien's multimillion-selling "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy were released Monday, with "The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun" planned for next month, publisher HarperCollins announced. | Lord of the Rings quests from EA to Warner Brothers |
Electronic Arts is suffering a loss of one of their top licensed franchises, as their deal with New Line Cinema for Lord of the Rings-based games ended at the end of 2008, and the franchise franchise has come back to New Line's parent company, Warner Brothers, valuable with the promise of two Hobbit films coming in 2011 and 2012. HarperCollins is to publish a new book by the late Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien. The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun, edited and introduced by Tolkien's son Christopher, will be published in hardback in May 2009. According to reports, Lord of the Rings prequel The Hobbit may be postponed until 2012. The movie, to be released in two parts, was due to shoot in New Zealand this winter but has reportedly had its start date shifted to 2010.
