Newly released cover art offers new Half-Blood Prince clues

by David Haber, Wizard News Wizard

This morning on their web site, UK Harry Potter publisher Bloomsbury released a picture of the artwork of the full cover, front and rear, for the children's version of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and some of the pictures on the cover hold possible new clues to what happens in the book.

Click on the above picture to see a really large version of the image, almost large enough for printing and putting over your favorite fat book, to pretend you have a copy of Half-Blood Prince!

The picture on the back cover appears to be a pensieve, which also figures prominently on the front cover of the US version of the book, as you can see below. Is this a major hint as to what happens in the story?

Also very interesting is the picture repeated on the inside leafs of the book jacket image.

This picture appears to be two wizards bound together by a golden cord, possibly locked in mortal combat. Furthermore, it appears to be a younger wizard (Harry?) and an older wizard (the Half-Blood Prince? Dumbledore?)

And perhaps most ominous of all, it seems that now both the US and the UK covers have taken on a green motif. Is the Half-Blood Prince perhaps a Slytherin? We know it can't be Draco, he's a pure-blood.

This new cover image appears to be artwork only, not the final cover, as what fans in the UK get on July 16 will undoubtedly have text information over the picture on the back cover and inside leafs.
