Dan Radcliffe Best Actor at SyFy Genre Awards

by David Haber, Wizard News Wizard

The winners of the SyFy Genre Awards were announced in a live chat at SyFy Portal's Yahoo Group on Saturday evening, which was attended by a handful of faithful readers from around the world, from as close as the United States, to as far as Toronto and even Croatia.

Daniel Radcliffe won the award this year for Best Young Actor in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Daniel won this same award in 2003 for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. In 2004, Elijah Wood won Best Young Actor for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Michael Hinman, founder of SyFy Portal, said that more than 80,000 votes were counted for this year's Genre Awards, a record. The Genre Awards have been a staple of SyFy Portal since 1999, and is open for all fans to vote once per day for 30 days. The awards were held every year, except 2002, which took place right after the 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States.
