Fan conference to celebrate Potter 10th anniversary
The year 2007 is the tenth anniversary of the publication of the Harry Potter books, and to commemorate this event, fans are organizing the Sectus 2007 conference in London, England, running from July 19th to 22nd, 2007.
Sectus 2007 will celebrate the Harry Potter series, its characters, mythologies and its diverse fanbase with a mixture of academic presentations, discussion and debate. In England's vibrant capital, fans will come together to consider the HP phenomenon and share their views on life, the universe and everything -- at least, everything as it pertains to HP.
Sectus will include an exciting programme reflecting the varied likes and dislikes of the fandom. Fans will be able attend a panel discussing the appeal of homoerotic fiction or a workshop on how to write its intricacies, or will debate Rowling's choice of partners for our heroes or learn how Wizarding history entwines with our own. There'll be something to suit everyone and if you have a special interest you'd like to see represented then fans are encouraged to host a discussion themselves. Sectus relies on input from the fans.
The largest event of its kind ever held in the UK, Sectus is a unique and unmissable opportunity for HP fans worldwide. Fans will come together in London and visit the real Platform 9 3/4 and hunt for the unplottable No. 12, Grimmauld Place. Take a flight on the British Airways' London Eye and see the city as it might be seen from a broomstick or sail down the River Thames and take in some of Order of the Phoenix's filming locations. Whether they choose to see everything, or nothing, fans won't regret visiting London and the Sectus 2007 conference.
Sectus is run by fans, for fans and they have an excellent committee working to make this a unique and unmissable event.
